Yamaha FZ FI: The coolest streetfighter in India

The brand-new Yamaha FZ-FI has been brought to India at the beginning of this year. The bike features the manufacturer’s Blue Core concept and takes the riding experience to the next level. It is equipped with a Fuel Injection (FI) Blue Core engine from the maker. The fuel injection process is made by the advanced sensors and actuators. Those deliver the ideal amount of fuel to the engine.



So, let’s carry forward the discussion to the next level by talking about some of the major highlighting facts of the new FZ-FI. And to begin with, the bike has had its presence in the market for a really long period of time when it was first introduced with the caption “Lord of the street”.

Design

The new Yamaha FZ FI features a sporty design with the help of the attractive colours and minimal yet attractive graphics. There is a multi-reflector type headlight which provides a stylish look, besides the good illumination. The aluminium handle grab bars come with split type design but is extremely easy to be gripped by the pillion and design is pretty sharp. The handle grab bars get a perfect position so that the riders can grasp it easily while being extremely comfortable.

 

The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels where the front is covered with 100 mm tyre, while the rear  is wrapped with a thick 140 tyre.

Braking and Suspension

The new Yamaha FZ FI comes with a drum brake of 130 mm at the rear. However, the front wheel comes with a standard single disc to offer good enough stopping power. It is based on a diamond chassis. There is  a front telescopic suspension up front while at the rear, a monoshock swingarm does the duties. The suspension setup, along with the radial tyres, makes sure that the bike is grounded on the road even while in rapid accelerating.



Engine and Transmission

The new Yamaha FZ FI is equipped with a 149cc air-cooled, SOHC engine. This engine is capable of churning out a maximum power of 13.2 PS, which comes at 8,000 rpm, and the produced peak torque is around 12.8 Nm, coming at 6,000 rpm. The engine comes mated with a 5-speed transmission. It carries a fuel tank of 12-litres and the engine returns a mileage of around 50 kmpl at the most.

Verdict

The all-new Yamaha FZ price starts at Rs. 82,000. It is one of the best bikes in India in the 150 cc segment. It may not be outright powerful but is known for its engine refinement, just like any other Yamaha would have. It competes against the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer, Honda Hornet and the new TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
